Summary: "Masterpiece"

I absolutely agree with the previous review. This is Deep Elm's best release. It's full of emotion, anger, sadness, and passion. DCS create a completely original sound fusing elements from classical music, hardcore, indie rock, and jazz into one amazing package. If you love exploring new artists, look no further than Desert City Soundtrack.
Favorite tracks are "Drowning Horses", "Casket", and "Take You Under"

Summary: "Deep Elm's best release."

Sure, there are alot of bands that can play piano. But do they play a piano in EVERY one of their songs? No. Most bands only have a piano in one songs. Desert City Soundtrack, the best Deep Elm band and the greatest band of all time next to the Jazz June, has a piano in every song, and not to mention a trumpet in most. And the way that the drums boom right along with the piano is like a work of magic. The vocals are perfect too, as are the guitars and bass.
Many of the words containing the prefix de- can describe this band: Despondent, depressing, destructive, demonic, and many more. The lyrics are dark and gloomy and fit in beautifully with the emotional, ballad-like tunes that are played with such great talent and effort that this band will surely be loved by emo fans, goths, and indie and punk rockers. This band might be more indie/noise than emo, but they are truly depressing like "emo" is often defined as. DCS also has the most unique screaming I have ever heard. It is distorted and malevolent, really making them sound like they are angry and are suffering. Unlike such bands like Taking Back Sunday, Thursday, Underoath, and Hawthorne Heights, DCS is unique, and really know how to be emotional and to make good screaming. Why listen to all those bands that all sound the same when you can listen to DCS? If you like emo, then why aren't you listening to this? Well, that's all I can say. This CD is so great (and so is their other), that it is difficult to put my feelings of it into words. If you hear this band, you will definetely always remember their sound and will surely recognize it if you hear it somewhere. DCS is really in a category of their own.
